This weekend the Gulf Coast Tri Team had representation at the Double Bridge Run 15k which is a unique, point-to-point course beginning in downtown Pensacola, FL and finishing on Pensacola Beach, FL. The course routes athletes across both the Pensacola Bay Bridge and the Bob Sikes Bridge, totaling about half of the 15k distance spanning bridged water and overpassed roadways.
The 40F temperatures made for a crisp pre-race ritual (warmup, bathroom duties, start line banter), but the 10+ mph NNE winds made for a nice tailwind push, warming things up quickly by the mid-way point of Pensacola Bay. Concensus opined that the favorable winds were a great addition to this enjoyable event. A sizable 15k field of nearly 2,700 athletes with fantastic finishes by the entire team: 11 - L. Roberts 13 - Moore - 1st 35-39M AG 18 - Striepeck 20 - Runyon 45 - S. Roberts 58 - Rothfeder - 2nd 45-49M AG 60 - Malone Many thanks to Pensacola Sports for hosting and directing this fun event! GCTT looks forward to the upcoming triathlon season. Next stop, Red Hills Triathlon on 03/25/2017. COMPLETE RESULTS: http://gulfsporttiming.com/races.php
